Blade Runner 2049
Directed by one of the best modern directors, Denis Villenueve, Blade Runner 2049 follows
a blade runner, K, as he tries to track down any remaining replicants still left. He discovers
that somehow a replicant was able to produce offspring. K is tasked with finding out how.
This film is filled with great actors, the beautiful cinematography Villenueve's movies are known for, and a wonderful concept to fit a sequel. This is one of those rare sequels where despite how long the gap between the previous movie and this one is, it feels like it was worth the wait.

Big Fish
From the wonderful imagination of Tim Burton, Big Fish follows a son who travels home to
see his father who had been diagnosed with cancer. His father is a great storyteller, and most
of the movie is told through these stories, which seem too fantastical to be real.
This is definitely my favorite Tim Burton film purely because of how heartwarming and fantastical it is. Many of the scenes are filled with whimsical fantasies that add to its charm and could possibly only be done with Tim Burton’s imagination.

West Side Story (2021)
The remake of the classic musical by Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story (2021) is directed by one
of the most famous directors of all time, Steven Spielberg. Inspired by Romeo and Juliet, the
story follows a love story between two people stuck on opposite sides of a turf war in New York
City.
Much of the praise of this movie can be traced back to the original movie, but director Steven Spielberg has a way of adapting the story into something that makes it even more spectacular. The acting in this movie is also top notch with a great debut role from Rachel Zegler and an Oscar winning performance from Ariana DeBose. The music is so good and is definitely a must watch at some point. I firmly believe it’s better than the original.

The Truman Show
Made in 1998, The Truman Show follows an ordinary man who has been the star of a TV show
his entire life, but he has no idea. Truman starts to suspect something to be weird as his world
begins to crumble.
By far the best movie to come out of the 90’s in my opinion. Most of my praise for this movie comes from the originality of this concept, even before reality TV was a thing. This is a movie that really helped show Jim Carrey’s dramatic side as the movie delves into a person’s reaction to learning nothing in their life is real. If you haven’t seen this movie before, I highly recommend it as it’s one of the best films out there.
